In accordance with the end uses, Block Boards are generally classified into two groups. They are Grade I Type II & Grade II Type II.

BLOCK BOARDS GRADE TYPE II IS:1659-1990 CM/L 6425870
The Types of Block Boards, which are preferably used for exterior works where it is likely to be exposed in high percentage of humidity. Hence this type of Block Boards need a special care of manufacturing and quality controlling.
BWP type Phenol formaldehyde Resins is used for the exterior grade block boards. A list of timbers to be used for manufacturing for Block Boards have prescribed in the Indian standard specification for Block Boards. (IS 1659-1990 Third revision) We are using selected timbers for Block Board cores & cross bands. A group of local timber suppliers provide bulk quantity of round logs. Timbers have given preservative treatment by using suitable chemical confirmed by IS 401:1982. All raw materials are confirming to respective Indian Standard Specification.

As the result of our hard work for the quality, we have recently got certificate from BIS for our Block Boards. Bureau of Indian Standards recommend six different tests on Block Boards for maintaining its quality. Every batch of Block Boards have been undergoing the quality testing. The test result from the laboratory shows each control unit has over and above the minimum requirement for conformity specified in IS:1659. The Test result of a control unit is given below.

SAMPLE: TYPE II GRADE I
1. Dimensional changes Caused by Humidity No delamination Dimension change 0.35mm
2. Resistance to water By 72 hours Boiled Excellent
3. Adhesion of plies By knife Excellent
4. Mycological Test Confirmed the standard
5. Modulas of Elasticity 5701.73 N/mm2
6. Modulas of Rupture 54 N/mm2

GRADE II TYPE II- CM/L 6425870
This grade of Block Boards meant for interior uses. MR.Type Urea formaldehyde Resins are used as bonding agent. Extender confirming to the IS:1508:1972 has been using with the Urea Formaldehyde resin for improving the bonding property of adhesive. The glue lines of Block Boards are poisoned by using a borax compound. This poisonous layer provides a high resistance against the wood borers.

2. Resistance to water By 3 hours at 60C Excellent
3. Adhesion of plies By knife Excellent
